The Recipe for the Rest of February

Pick of the Week (PotW):

The Wild Storm #20 finally debuts Apollo and Midnighter in full as well as introduced Ben Santini from Black Razor and Stormwatch: Team Achilles fame.  I dug how Apollo’s hair color depicted his power level (similar to a Sayian i.e. Goku).   This iteration of Midnighter seems more formidable than previous versions.

Coulda Been A Contender (For PotW):

Fantastic Four #7 felt natural in the depiction of Doom who failed in his ambition to be a super hero but continues to be a hero on his own terms.  I am curious about what are Doom’s plans for Galactus and what boon can be taken from him.  Aaron Kuder and Marte Gracia continue to do an amazing job.

Runaways #18 illustrated Oliver Sava’s point about the kids are a family and super heroics are never a part of the equations.  Gib is in an awkward and dangerous place in terms of his hunger & survival.  I wonder who decided to follow Alex.  Victor would be the most unlikely candidate due to his last interaction with Wilder.

Hulkverines #1 continues to amaze me that such a juvenile idea has such a superb execution.  Kudos to the creative team!

Worthy Mentions:

Doctor Aphra #29 confirmed for me that I need see Triple 0 in a live action or animated capacity ASAP.  The other cast members are definitely unique and standout in the Star Wars universe.

X-Force #3 reminded me why Deathlok was such a breakout character from Remender’s time at the X-Force helm.  It’s a pity that he didn’t release his demented human host during the fight.  Ahab continues to be staunch and unwavering in his bigotry.

Age of X-Man – X-Tremist #1 is a perfect illustration of how insidious and vile this reality created by Grey is under the surface.

Black Panther #9 is well worth the price of admission thanks to Kev Walker & Stephane Paitreu.

Invaders #2 revealed the origins of Namor’s new hydrokinetic abilities.

Electric Warriors #4 was shocking in the sense that a symbol of hope was used to murder.

The Terrifics #13 continues to be the template for an amazing Fantastic Four series.  Part of me wishes that Paula becomes a permanent cast member.

The Silencer $14 revealed Honor’s true origins and her connection to Talia and her dad.

The Magic Order #6 ends like all NuMillar books – predictably optimistic.
