The Recipe for 5/23/18

Pick of the Week:
Black Panther #1 seems like an extremely awesome premise for the next film: a space opera with Afro-Futurist elements.  Part of me wished that the Maroons had unique names and not derived from established characters.  I am also curious about Emperor N’Jadaka.  Wonder where Galactic Wakanda is located in proximity to established empires like the Kree, Shi’ar, Badoon, and Skrull. How did they remain relatively unknown for so long?

The Flash #47 makes me wonder how many more evil speedsters are mucking around with the time stream.  Is Inertia’s return possible as well? What’s Zoom’s role and end goal with screwing up with the timeline.   Found a Yellow Lantern cop to be very interesting and especially one who is affiliated with the Reverse Flash Task Force.

Worthy Mentions:

Invincible Iron Man #600 found it interesting that Mephisto’s vendetta against Doom is at the point where he wore the Hood as a disguise to gain access to Victor.  Hope that this isn’t what leads Doom back to villainy.  The evil Tony A.I. angle was abruptly dropped and nothing substantial came from the Hydra Dad element either.

The Silencer #5 amazed me that Slade was the voice of reason in the Leviathan civil war.  This book continues to be one of the best things that came out of Dark Knight Metal.  Honor Guest is more interesting IMO than other mercenaries like Wade & Slade.

The Terrifics#4 still has a strong FF vibe especially with Metamorpho’s and Plastic Man’s antics. Mr. Terrific is just textbook and socially awkward as Reed.  Must say that Nathan Fairbairn and Doc Shaner are dynamic team when it comes to the visuals.

Weapon X #18 surprised to see Omega Red brought to Mort level.  He went from a character that it took the entire X-Men team to beat to a dude almost killed by hungry tigers.

The Meh Pile:

Nothing that horrid & foul has polluted the pull list.
