The Recipe for 6/21/18

Pick of the Week:
Tony Stark – Iron Man #1 has a real light and fun vibe chocked full of weirdness similar to the vibe that Aaron & Bacchalo’s Wolverine & the X-Men.  There are technologically enhanced cats & dogs working alongside side their human coworkers. Jocasta is an employee and she’s using her family name, Pym (I am curious to see if she’ll meet her new family members like Nadia, Viv or even Victor Mancha).  Found it interesting and partially annoying/offensive that Stark built his new HQ at Union Square (that part of Manhattan already has enough going on why do we need the Iron rogues causing mayhem there). The Super Sentai fan in me almost wished that the 3FB components had its individual pilots.  Still think the villain is a MORT but I have confidence in the creative team.

Worthy Mentions:
Weapon H #4 continues to be an enjoyable ride and Roxxon continues to churn out nightmare fuel.  With monstrosities like the “Groot-Thing”, I am surprised that Roxxon hasn’t taken over the world.  I wouldn’t put it past the Roxxon scientists to have a version of the zombie virus ready to unleash upon the world.

Runaways #10 has me feeling some type of way with the ending.  Abigail, like Dr. Hayes, operated in a morally gray area and her villainy is born of fear and loneliness. Wonder if they could have done more to help Abigail with Nico’s Avengers connection and Julie’s more illustrious superhero connections.

Cable #158 delighted me to see vintage X-Force in action and I am surprise on some level to see holo Wade give Star so much trouble.  I am still sick of the TO virus.

Flavor #2 definitely a welcomed change from the cape stories.  I guess the Chopped & Iron Chef fan in me appreciates a fantasy themed cooking comic.

Justice League #2 must say that Legion of Doom definitely feels like a competent and efficient villain team with Lex taking the lead.  Curious to see what value the Joker and Cheetah add to the team overall.

The Meh Pile:
Nothing that loathsome or odious this week.
