The Recipe for 2/21/18

Pick of the Week:
Birthright #30 continues to keep the readers on their toes.  Lore made a good point about the mages and their lie which cost Mikey and his family so much.  Both sides are pretty gray with the poor Rhodes caught in the middle.  Found the secret agency and the dragon dissection to be an interesting development.  I wonder if the Rhodes will join that faction since they certainly won’t join Lore’s forces and the mages have their own agenda.  I am curious about Brennan and if he will be corrupted by Callista.  What are the physical costs of the Nevermind’s removal? Andrei Bressan & Adriano Lucas continue to kill it on the visuals.

Black Panther Annual #1 was a smart move to have an Agent Ross story in light of the recently released film.  I am surprised that the most technologically advanced nation of the planet does not have a cure for cancer.  Must say that T’Challa’s trophy room was on the Maestro’s level.  The Atlantean and Wakandan royal families uniting made perfect sense.  I would be amazed to see what they could create with their combined resources.

Worthy Mentions

Avengers #681 revealed the origin of Voyager and why the Lethal Legion and Black Order are involved in the competition.  Didn’t know that the Black Order were dead, thought that they were still alive since a few of them tried to steal Ultimate Mjolnir.  Still not sure what to think of Voyager, she reminds me of Sentry in the sense that she is a forgotten Avenger.

Cave Carson Has a Cybernetic Eye Swamp Thing Special #1 gave me flashbacks to my tenure in corporate cubicle farms with the Retconn’s office.  Retconn attempt to make a corporate religion reminded me of the replacement Authority team which created its own religion and god.

Damage #2 struck me  with the relationship between Damage and Ethan was more supportive and helpful than Banner’s and the Hulk’s!  This issue gave us a gauge of Damage’s power and sets him up for his true test against Wonder Woman.

Generation X #87 makes me wonder how much more the Battle of the Atom future changed with Jubilee being restored to life and cured off her vampirism.  The old school readers also got a mini-original Generation X reunion.  It’s annoying that Quentin got the Nate Grey treatment (massive depowerment).

Super Sons #13 makes me wonder if Clark withheld information from Jon or is Jon like his dad and instantly sees the good in people?

Tales of Suspense #102 is a disappointment with how the second Black Widow died.  It was a pleasure to see Travel Foreman art again.

The Mighty Thor #704 revealed a family for Jane Foster that I did not know existed.  I am surprised by how insanely powerful Mangog is.

Venom #162 surprised me with how powerful the symbiotes made the original five and makes me wonder why Essex or Apocalypse never experimented on them.

The Meh Pile:

Nothing that horrid & foul has polluted the pull list.
