The Prescriptions for 8/3/16

PaperGirls_08-1

Pick of the Week:

Faster Than Light No. 9 fascinates me with Arktur existing as a gestalt entity.  The Cthulhu lookalike alien was a great visual addition.  I am enjoying the fact that alien lifeforms aren’t humanoid or the “hot space babe in impractical bikini” trope.  I am enjoying the journey.

Doctor Strange No. 10 reminds me of the god butcher arc of Thor, the only thing is this remix is far more interesting.  My only gripe is the lack of Mahatma Doom.

Paper Girls No. 8 reminds me of the song schizophrenic conversations due to the two Erin’s dialogue.  It’s cool to see the kaiju tardigrade brawl. The end is a real monkey wrench in what I thought was the deal.

Squadron Supreme No. 10 ties in with Civil War II but wasn’t weighed down by it.  Thundra is an interesting addition to the cast.  She is almost like a Batman figure in JLU in the sense that she keeps them honest.

Worth the read:

Aquaman No. 4 looks like war with the surface world is over the horizon.

Batman No. 4 gave us Gotham flipping his lid and crossing the line earlier than I expected.

Black Science No. 23 feels like the last season of Sliders, watchable but a bit painful.

Civil War II – Kingpin No. 2 reminds us why Wilson Fisk is an apex predator in the crime world.

Daredevil Annual No. 1 features the return of Echo & pits Matt against Klaw again.  It’s a visually interesting story.

Deadpool No. 16 reminded me of the interaction between the Monarch and his henchmen.

Deadpool v Gambit No. 3 makes me wonder why we couldn’t have this sooner.

Green Arrow No. 4 is serviceable.

Green Lanterns No. 4 is serviceable.

Harley Quinn No. 1 is serviceable.

Invincible Iron Man No. 12 is barely serviceable but it had Doom!

Justice League No. 2 was interesting to see the rookie Lanterns interact with the league.

Moon Knight No. 5 is serviceable.

Nightwing No. 2 is serviceable.

Silk No. 11 is serviceable.

Spidey No. 9 is serviceable.

Superman No. 4 presented us with an interesting remix of the Eradicator.

The Punisher No. 4 is serviceable.

Uncanny Inhumans No. 12 is serviceable.

Uncanny X-Men No. 11 is serviceable.

Vote Loki No. 3 gave me a candidate that I can support.

Nah, Just Nah:

Marvel Tsum Tsum No. 1 is probably one of those books that I am too jaded to appreciate. If the milk of human kindness still flows through you, you might dig it.

Tokyo Ghost No. 9 is a messy MEH!
