“Code Monkey Save World” Kickstarter Goes For New Stretch Goal of $250,000

Not being content with raising over five times their original target goal, Greg Pak and Jonathan Coulton want even more.  They’ve already increased the page count from 60 to 96 and added a brand new acoustic album by Coulton as a bonus to all backers at the $15 level and above.

Now, if they can raise $250,000, Pak and Coulton will create a brand new children’s book based on Coulton’s song “The Princess Who Saved Herself.”  Every backer at the $15 level and above will receive the children’s book as a free digital download.

The ” Princess Who Saved Herself” song tells the story of a tough, tomboy princess who encounters a scary dragon and a creepy witch and ends up recruiting them for her rock band.

“Only on the internet would plans for a book magically transform into a longer book plus A WHOLE OTHER BOOK,” says Coulton. “The level of support we’ve received for this project is absolutely ridiculous – what kind of monsters would we be if we didn’t send that energy back at everyone? I myself am a parent of a pretty kickass princess, and so it’s really thrilling to see this character come to life.”

“We’re ridiculously excited about the possibility of making this book,” says Pak. “Have you seen at that art by Tak and Jessica? I mean, just LOOK at it!”

The Kickstarter will run until 9:18 am ET on May 15 and can be reached via www.codemonkeycomix.com.
