X-Men Legacy #275 Review

A few years ago, the adjective-less X-Men title morphed into X-Men Legacy.  The book went from focusing on Charles Xavier to having Rogue as the main character.  Issue 275 is the end of this current run for the title, as it will be relaunched with a brand new #1 in the Marvel NOW! featuring Xavier’s son Legion.

In #275, Rogue and Mimic must work together to thwart a prison riot.  Being out of the X-Men loop for so long, I forgot that Mimic was a member of the X-Men.  It’s also good to see Rogue has learned to harness her mutant powers while maturing into a capable leader.

What I Liked

Seeing Rogue fully use her mutant abilities to steal various powers and use them successfully was a real treat.  No more stressing over hurting someone from using her touch.  A discussion between Rogue and Mimic also got a laugh out of me.  Just a small misunderstanding on Rogue’s part, but it displayed how hectic her life has been lately that she could only think of herself in this instance.

What I Didn’t Like

From looking at some of the Avengers vs. X-Men tie-in issues, I know Gambit and Frenzy are also members of the X-Men Legacy team.  However, they do not play any part in the final.  Save for Gambit appearing in about two panels.  This is all Rogue and Mimic here.  Plus, I wonder if there were other dangling plot points that did not get a resolution.

In closing, Legion’s X-Men Legacy will be on the list of Marvel NOW! titles I don’t plan on reading.  Unless of course I get an advanced copy!  If that’s the case, I’ll make sure to let my thoughts known on it.  Hopefully Legion has a strong supporting cast to play off of.
