Potential Arrested Development Movie in Works? FINALLY!

Earlier this week the internet was abuzz with news of an Arrested Development movie FINALLY in talks of being made.  For those who aren’t familiar with Arrested Development, it was a 30-minute sitcom on the FOX Network that acquired a cult following.  Very satirical humor combined with great acting led the show to become one of my all-time favorites.  It was officially the first television series I collected on DVD.

Supposedly instead of going directly into a movie, there is talk of Arrested Development going the digital route.  Netflix and Hulu are in talks to acquire new episodes and air them on their outlets.  The new episodes are meant to focus on individual members of the Bluth family.  This actually makes sense, because it has been five years since the show was seen by the general public.  Of course the show is also available on DVD and I’m sure it’s on Netflix as well.  So fans can play catchup if they are not familiar with the crazy antics of the Bluth family.  Which I strongly recommend they do.

A round of applause needs to go out to the internet community for letting their voices be heard.  The only reason a movie is even being discussed is because of Arrested Development’s loyal fan base.  The same thing happened with the cult classic Firefly.  FOX also canceled Firefly, just for it to have a movie called Serenity based off it.

So we’ll wait and see if all these Arrested Development plans come to fruition.  My money is on it happening. Hollywood likes making money off of existing franchises.
