Entourage Season 8 Ep 2 Review

Tonight’s episode of Entourage opens up with the gang living out of a hotel after their home caught fire during Vince’s welcome home party.  It’s always the subtle jokes that get the biggest laughs out of me from this show.  For instance, since all of Turtle’s clothes were lost in the fire, he’s reduced to wearing one of his seasons 1-3 Benard King New York Knicks jerseys. Drama wastes no time clowning Turtle for his old school fashion statement.

We learn from Lloyd that Mrs. Ari Gold has been having breakfast at a restaurant she previously claimed to hate.  After Ari and Lloyd do some reconnaissance work, Ari believes she’s dating a lowly waiter.  Come to find out she’s dating none other than celebrity chef Bobby Flay.  I’ve never watched any of Bobby Flay’s shows, but I look forward to seeing the confrontations between Ari and Bobby over Mrs. Gold.

Smaller storylines are furthered:  Vince convinces Walsh to read his script, Drama and Andrew Dice Clay’s cartoon gets picked up by a network, and Turtle wants to break up with his girlfriend Alex.  But the storyline that any real fan of the show cares about is Eric vs Sloan.  The image above shows Sloan and E during happier times. Now things aren’t as rosy for the former couple.  Earlier in the episode Sloan calls E just to deliver a special two letter word.  Then when E goes back to Sloan’s place to move his things out, they end up having sex! If that isn’t awkward enough, Sloan runs from the premises without offering so much as a goodbye.

Finally, just as E is starting to get some positive vibes about himself, Sloan drops the bombshell that she quit her job and is moving to New York.  E casually mentions this to the guys, but you know that this is eating him up inside.  Drama’s final line of the night also poetically puts things in perspective.

Automatically I start to try and connect the dots to how the show could finally end.  Does E throw the deuces to the boys and join Sloan in New York to live happily ever after?  Or will he always live the Entourage lifestyle?  We’ll have to stay tuned to see what the writers have in store for us.
