The Recipe for 2/6/19

Pick of the Week (PotW):

The Immortal Hulk #13 brought Hulk & Banner to a new level of understanding.  Glad to see that Creel continues to grow and evolve as a character.  Despite all of his wrongdoing, Creel is still a man that loves his wife and values family.  I just hope his rehabilitation is more lasting than Flint Marko’s and Victor Creed’s.  Bruce is understandably broken after his experience in Hell.  I wonder how he will fare in his next encounter with the One-Below-All.

Coulda Been A Contender (For PotW):

Die #3 introduced a D & D staple: Dragons.  The introduction was far quicker than Game of Thrones.  We get an idea of how powerful Matt the Grief Knight is.  We also get an idea of how the game has profoundly impacted the NPC.

Killmonger #4 reminds me of Kendrick Lamar’s Loyalty video in terms of the visuals and the overall tone.  Erik  was loyal to King and assumed/presumed the loyalty of Knight.  I wonder if this series would lead to the eventual resurrection of Killmonger or will his return coincide with the release of Black Panther sequel?  I am curious about this jackal entity and her overall purpose in the story.

Conan the Barbarian #3 confirmed my suspicion that Cimmerians are functionally agnostic/atheist and Crom is almost like a Lovecraft depiction of a deity (indifferent to their worshipers and unconcerned with their well-being).

Justice League #17 added another layer to Lex and his relationship with the League.  The glimpses of Luthor’s childhood humanized him abit because I am used to the cold intellect Lex that murdered his parents to further advance himself without restrictions.

Worthy Mentions:

Uncanny X-Men #11 returns Scott to the forefront officially and I am not sure why Scott continues to be seen in unfavorable light compared someone like Wolverine/Namor. I get that Scott murdered Xavier while possessed by the Phoenix but Wolverine gets possessed/brainwashed/moody every other Tuesday but he gets a pass.  Wolverine & Namor have enough blood on their hands collectively to fill all of the Great Lakes, but Scott’s a scumbag.

Avengers #14 remixed the Vampire Civil War that the X-Men gave us a few years ago.  Wonder if a low level Avenger will become a vampire like Jubilee?

Female Furies #1 was definitely what I expected…

Young Justice #2 intrigued me with Teen Lantern’s mecha & its affection for Hex’s truck.
