The Christmas 2018 Recipe

Pick of the Week (PotW):

Killmonger #2 successfully harnessed the fire generated by Michael Bakari Jordan’s amazing performance in the recent Black Panther film.  I enjoyed the overall story which is a classic revenge/crime film projected through the filter of the super hero genre.  I am curious to see how Bullseye will remain among the land of living after encountering N’Jadaka.  The Ferreyras did an excellent job with the artwork, the line work is refined and the characters have a certain life about them.

Coulda Been A Contender (For PotW):

Runaways #16 revealed an unexpected yet intriguing wrinkle of the Rite of Thunder.  I wonder how the different the story would have been if the Pride had figured it out.  Would it be a Wanted scenario where villains ruled the world and all heroes were vanquished?   I am also curious about Nico’s new limits and the full implications of the soul bleed cost.  I wonder how Gib will fare by the end of the arc.  Victor Von Dapper aka Doombot is a much welcomed addition to the cast.

Shuri #3 surprised me with the bonding moment between Rocket & Shuri and Groot & Shuri.  Part of me wished that her space adventure lasted longer.

Worthy Mentions:

Domino #9 will finally answer the question who is the luckiest person with Domino vs Longshot. Shoon’kwa is an interesting character and her abilities remind me of an enhanced version of Spider Senses.

Extermination #5 neatly resolved the chaos that Hank McCoy wreaked by bringing the teen X-Men to the future.  It almost felt too neat, I hope that the adult counterparts can perform some of the amazing feats of their teen selves.  I also wonder if Cable (old man version) is truly dead since he is a time traveler and he was “murdered” by his younger self.

Thor #8 delighted me to see Thor bond with his older sister because it felt like she hasn’t had much interaction with her family after her parentage was revealed.

Feeling Some Type of Way:

Nada for this week

The Meh Pile:

Uncanny X-Men #6 continues to be exceedingly boring despite the exciting elements.  How many times, are we going to see the shift between Angel and Archangel?
