The Thanksgiving Recipe

Pick of the Week (PotW):

Immortal Hulk #9 continues the growth and maturity of Crusher Creel.  Using him as a tool against the Hulk made perfect sense, especially considering his success against Banner. I also dug that the Marvel Knight’s Marvel Boy series was referenced in the Bannerman Gene Enhancement Package.  The One Below All strongly inserted the horror element; I am curious about its true power and origins.

Coulda Been A Contender (For PotW):

Infinity Warps – Ghost Panther #1 reminded me of the Speed Demon Amalgam comic in the sense that the Ghost Rider concept was drastically remixed.  It was wacky that a crowned prince of an advanced nation would become a stunt cyclist. Palo’s art fit the dark and sobering atmosphere of the book.

Shuri #2 allayed my fears with how the creative team integrated Shuri’s past with her current iteration (which is rare after a popular movie version has debuted).  Found her interaction with the ancestor to be potentially tricky if it is overused.  The ending was completely unexpected.

Marvel Knights #2 reminded me what a tough son of a gun Castle is with the beating he took and his determination to get back up.

Worthy Mentions:

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #37 made reminded me of Calvin and Hobbes with the antagonistic snowmen.  Gustavo Duarte’s art style makes me wish that this issue was animated.

Mr & Mrs X #5 gives some life to Rogue loses control trope as well as add some depth to the LeBeau marriage.  Part of me is surprised that Remy is a fairly decent & mature husband.

Weapon X #26 made see how much Creed has change through his adventure in hell and encounter with Graydon.  The old Creed was a violent and remorseless brute, this current Creed is haunted by his failure as a parent.

Nightwing #53 makes me wonder how long we will have Ric Grayson around.  This Phineas Gage-inspired stories are refreshing so far.

Feeling Some Type of Way:

Nothing that odious this week

The Meh Pile:

Nothing that loathsome or odious this week.
