The Recipe for 3/21/18

Pick of the Week:
The Mighty Thor #705 cements this run as my current all time favorite run of Thor.  Jane simply embodied what it means to be a true hero with her intentional sacrifice for the sake of others.  I found it interesting that in the midst of a crisis, Odin still wants to retrieve the hammer when it’s all over and done.  I am curious about how the sun’s heat could destroy Mangog or Mjolnir since it was forged using a star.  Wonder what will happen to Asgard with Heimdall blinded and so many of its warriors broken/seriously injured?  Kudos to Dauterman and Wilson for this breathtaking art that we were privileged to view.

Runaways#7 delighted me with how resilient Molly and Karolina are.  Even with the recent chaos that visited them, they strive to maintain their normalcy.   Molly seems like a magnet for trouble because something seems off about Abigail; something about her reminds me of Topher from the first series.   The moment between Gertrude and Vic’s interaction made me wonder if the Heroine future is still in play with the Victorious program activating.  Must highlight how emotive Anka’s art with the interaction between Nicolina and the BFF’s.

Worthy Mentions

Ms. Marvel #28 leads me to believe that the Inventor could be an ideal villain for the animated or live action Marvel series.  I must say that Nico Leon’s art is very impressive and I hope to see more of it.

Weapon H #1 seems so perfect that the first major villain for Hulkverine is a Wendigo.  Roxxon is truly cementing itself as the official and premier evil corporation.  Part of me wants Hulkverine to tussle against the Minotaur.

Cable #155 confused me abit like how exactly did Cable become reinfected with the TO virus after Hope cured him with the Phoenix Force? Cable’s TO virus seems to be like Rogue’s deadly touch/Ben Grimm’s ability to shift between forms in that whenever the character overcome their burden some writer slaps it back on them for dramatic effect.

Thanos #17 definitely had an epic battle with a Mjolnir wielding Norrin Radd facing off against a Surtur sword wielding Thanos.  I am kinda disappointed that Thanos is still pursuing death and not Hela.  Would be interesting to see what havoc they could create together.

Doctor Strange – Damnation #3 made me wonder what we missed with Thor retrieving Mjolnir from Moon Knight before he could transform.  I definitely want to see a Moon Thor… err Thor Knight now.

Superman #43 impressed me with Patrick Gleason’s rendition of Bizarro and his son.  I am disappointed that Bizarro is an abusive parent, especially since he’s not evil just mixed up.

Damage #3 found it funny on a petty level that DC is doing a better job with a Marvel Franchise that Marvel itself with Damage and the Terrifics.

Rumble II #4 reminds me of Hellboy a bit without mundane yet depressing/foreboding their world could be.

Descender #28 revealed the true origins of the human race and Timothy.

The Meh Pile:

Nothing that horrid & foul has polluted the pull list.
