The Doktor’s Prescriptions of 1/13/2016

Birthright_13-1

Pick of the Week – All New Wolverine No. 4
What I dug: How the grounding of Strange’s magic appears to be across the board now. Laura’s willingness to save her “sisters” and seeing value in their lives shows tangible character growth. Lopez is doing his thing… that monster looks like something Conan/Kull would face or a Zoanoid fodder for the Guyver.
What I don’t fancy: Not a thing!
Buy or Nah: BUY IT NOW!!! Get a print, digital copy! Just get it!

Pick of the Week – Birthright No. 13
What I dug: The glimpse into Mikey’s past and fleshing how he arrived at his current situation.  His mother’s interaction with his wife feels believable and organic. The art continues to be superb!
What I don’t fancy: Nada!

Pick of the Week – Faster than Light No. 5
What I dug: The crew’s interaction with that alien race stood out to me. Mainly the fact that the aliens aren’t humanoid.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. No. 1
What I dug: S.H.I.E.L.D has a H.E.R.B.I.E! I love how Simmons is a field agent.
What I don’t fancy: Deathlok seems to be weaker than he was in his solo series.  The technology used by S.H.I.E.L.D. seems as grounded as the television version. I feel that the premier spy agency should be using more advanced devices than Coulson’s flying car.
Buy or Nah: Buy!

All New Hawkeye No. 3
What I dug: America and Kate’s relationship in the present and the future feels like an organic and natural relationship.
What I don’t fancy: The lack of a future Noh-Varr…

Buy or Nah: Buy it!

Black Knight No. 3
What I dug: The fleshing out of the Weird World landscape is a visual treat. I love the fact that Kev Walker is handling the art chores for a few pages.  Dane’s struggle with the Ebony Blade and its curse is an interesting journey.
What I don’t fancy: The shift in art is a bit jarring.
Buy or Nah: Buy!

What I don’t fancy: Nada!
Buy or Nah: Buy it!

Scarlet Witch No. 2
What I dug: The art.
What I don’t fancy: Felt that it would have been more interesting if the villain used was the same one used in Thor instead of some mort! I am confused about how Wanda’s abilities shifted from reality warping to chaos magic to witchcraft.
Buy or Nah: On the fence!

Secret War No. 9
What I dug: How the Richard Family and the Future Foundation story ended was so satisfying. I also loved how it explained how Victor got to the state he is in Invincible Iron Man
