“This is a very big deal to [Sarah and I],” says Brian Michael Bendis in an interview with Marvel.com. “For [Miles] to have grown up and flat-out earned his place in the Marvel Universe, as Spider-Man, is frankly so much more than we could have hoped for when we first sat down to design him and his life. When it became clear that I was going to follow Miles into this new adventure I was really hoping that Sara would see the value in it being both of us that do this together. I was thrilled that she agreed immediately.”

It looks like I was incorrect on a few of my All-New, All-Different Marvel fantasy booking predictions. Overnight, the NY Daily News announced that Miles Morales would be starring in the relaunched Spider-Man post-Secret Wars from the creative team of Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, who are the creators of Miles Morales.
This is the second announced title for All-New, All-Different Marvel, and the second new series for Bendis. After departing the X-Men franchise, we knew that Bendis would be adding new titles to his long resume.
From Bendis,
“Many kids of color who when they were playing superheroes with their friends, their friends wouldn’t let them be Batman or Superman because they don’t look like those heroes but they could be Spider-Man because anyone could be under that mask,” says writer and co-creator Brian Bendis. “But now it’s true. It’s meant a great deal to a great many people.”
Word is that Peter Parker will be in the role of mentor for the young Miles. Will Peter be hanging up the suit for good? Or will he also appear in another Spider-Man comic. Perhaps a relaunch of Amazing Spider-Man?
Either way, it looks like Miles Morales is set to have an even bigger spotlight on him in the upcoming months and years ahead.
