Review: East of West #3

Review created by newest addition to The KLIQ Nation reviewing team, Endswell

All you need is love…

Love can make you do strange things. It can make you buy gifts to impress them. It can make you stand outside a window holding a boom box. It make you take on the stronghold of a global superpower……ok maybe the last one if you’re a complete badass but you get the point. Love is a powerful motivator and that is the theme in this issue of East of West. The crazy things we humans (and cosmic deities) do in the name of love.

The pacing in this issue was solid. We were introduce to a sibling rivalry, a talking eye and a very pissed off cowboy all in one book. The art is well drawn and it can almost feel familiar, this new world Hickman and Dragotta have created. The dialogue flows well and it helps flesh out the characters. I especially like the interaction between Xiaolian and Hu. Watching to sisters speak to one another who clearly hate each other is always fun to watch.

Overall I enjoyed East of West #3 and would rate it an 8 out of 10. The story is turning out to be more than a revenge tale and this issue makes you want more.  More character interaction, more beautifully scenery, and more details. If’s there one thing Hickman is good at is teasing you with small seed details only to make to the next several issue to see it barer fruit. Issue #4 better have some actually fighting though. I’m itching to see these characters duke it out and see what cool abilities they have.
