Another big comic book news story has been spoiled by the New York Post.  In this interview with the NY Post, Batman Incorporated writer Grant Morrison reveals that Damian Wayne, Batman’s son and current Robin, will die.

It certainly has been a busy few weeks in the Batman family of books.  “Death of the Family” just concluded, where The Joker has been terrorizing the Batman family.  Now on the heels of that concluding, Morrison deals another blow in Batman Incorporated.

Perhaps the reason there was no press release spoiling Batman #17 is because it didn’t end with a main character’s death.  Regardless, the repercussions will be felt for the months and years to come.

“He saves the world. He does his job as Robin,” writer Grant Morrison said. “He dies an absolute hero.”

Morrison is the person who created Damian Wayne back in 2006.  So it is fitting that he is the one to end the young hero’s journey.

I haven’t read any issues of Batman Incorporated, but now I want to go back and read everything from the beginning.  There is something to be said for a story to come full circle and have a definite ending.  Even if the resolution ends in death.

What are your thoughts on Robin being killed?  Are you a fan of Batman Incorporated?  And will you be picking up #8 when it comes out this Wednesday?  Let us know in the Comments section below.
