The Doktor’s prescriptions… ahem… reviews
|Howdy, y’all! I am new to The Kliqnation. This is my first of many posts. The focus will be on the elements that I dug, won’t bash any book or creator.
DC:
Gotham Academy No. 10 – love the dynamics between the main characters and exploration of Gotham life that doesn’t involve costumes & capes. The interpretation of the Bat villains remind of Batman: The Animated Series.
Justice League United No. 13 – It was an unexpected surprise to see Sergeant Rock in this issue & interact with modern characters.

Descender trade – This series has many elements that I dig: aliens, intelligent robots, spaceship, and the kicker, alien space robots. Without spoiling it for potential readers, the story can best be described as Pinocchio in Space. My only complaint is waiting a month to get the next Descender issue!
Chrononauts trade – Chrononauts is what I describe as New Millar with Starlight being the prime exampe. The main characters are likeable and it has a standard scifi tropes such as time travel. Will be interesting to see how this translates to the silver screen.
Legend of Luther Strode No. 3 – I am extremely late to the Luther Strode show and I can best describe it as a video game translated into print. The battle between Luther and the gunslinger reminded me of my initial battle with Revolver Ocelot and a beat-em up like Double Dragon/Final Fight.
Injection No. 5 – Nothing can beat the trio of Warren Ellis, Declan Shalvey, and Jordie Bellaire! Ellis’s story + Shalvey’s pencils + Bellaire’s colors = magic!
Marvel:
Ms. Marvel No. 18 – I enjoy Ms. Khan’s characterization and her continued growth. The end reminds me of a Spider-Man reveal. The Alphona art is perfect for this book IMO.
A-Force No. 4 – The writers have a firm handle & clear understanding of the cast and this series made me of a fan of Molina’s art. His art is a perfect fit IMO.
Red Skull No. 3 – The writer added an intriguing & convincing layer of scheming/manipulation to the Red Skull. He was the more sinister “seductive” evil & raging against the “greater” evil of Doom. Want to see the writer revisit this iteration of Herr Skull in the future.
Siege No. 3 – Dug the combination of Nick Fury and the Fury, the use of Gillen characters, and the unexpected ending
Secret Wars 2099 No. 5 – nice to see classic 2099 characters and the creations of new characters
Planet Hulk No. 5 – enjoyed the art and the character twist
Korvac Saga No. 4 – enjoyed the art and the demonstration of how powerful the Thor Corps truly is
Mrs. Deadpool and the Howling Commandos No. 4 – enjoyed the demonstration of the Thor Corps power and the interesting Thor designs.
Giant-Size Little AvX No. 4 – dug the light hearted nature of the book as well as the art.
Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows No. 5 – enjoyed seeing a Spider kid in action
