The Last Ship on TNT debuted Season 2 on June 28, 2015 picking up where it left off, trying to find a cure for both a deadly virus, and the breakdown of society.

The Last Ship is the latest show to air about the end of the world. The action is similar to The Walking Dead, just with military precision.

Background:

The USS Nathan James was sent on a secret mission to find a cure for a devastating disease. In last year’s season finale, they finally make it back to the US, landing in Baltimore. Upon arrival, they are met by the highest ranking government official, played by @AlfreWoodard, who seems to have the situation under control.

As the episode continues, we see that she has become the enemy. The new government overruns the ship and puts into custody the doctor who has found the cure. The military, being loyal to the idea of America, overthrows the corrupt government, rescues the doctor, and will begin the process of starting over.

Analysis:

The 2 hour season premier was as fast paced a show as I’ve seen in years. The action is crisp, the dialogue is pointed without being preachy and the pace of the show makes it easy to follow. The last line of the show as given by @RealEricDane, the Captain of the USS Nathan James, says, “So this is home”.

If the premiere episode is any indication, TNT is home for Sunday action for a long time to come.
