The Recipe for 5/16/18

Pick of the Week:
All New Wolverine #35 saddens me to see the end of Laura’s tenure as Wolverine.  Loved how Old Lady Laura overall led a more balanced and stable life than Logan.  I am glad that ancient Doom lacks the facial scar because it gives me some hope about Doom’s backslide into villainy.  Vanity won’t be Victor’s reason for returning to darkness.  I am also curious to see if Danielle Cage was in fact the imprisoned Captain America.  Gabby’s stubborn refusal to let Laura die was touching and a testament of their importance to each other.  My only regret is that this arc wasn’t longer.

Avengers #2 makes me question the Final Host’s overall strength because it seems to be an infection rather caused the other Celestials to fall from the sky instead of a beatdown.  This doesn’t negate the threat of the Final Host because nothing short of high order cosmic beings like Logos or  Thor wielding his enchanted ax have been able to slay a Celestial.  I wonder why Jen is behaving like her cousin and able to communicate with a Celestial.  Wonder if Loki’s part in this chaos is related to his overall scheme with the Infinity.

Captain America #702 loved how Steve Rogers had become an American King Arthur.  I also wonder if a future where everyone is a super soldier is training/experience what determines who wins in the battle?  Herr Skull must be Steve’s Mordred.  This is the only comic in memory (besides Rumble) that had such a smooth artistic transition.

Worthy Mentions:

Damage #5 delighted me with the revelation that the Damage Program is the weaponized extension of the Hour Man program.  Wasn’t expecting Grodd at the end or a partnership between Grodd & Ivy.

Moonshine #10/Infidel #3 needs to be adapted to a television series ASAP.  Both have fully developed and interesting characters and are legitimately scary.

Weapon H #3 amazed me with the amount of monstrosities that Roxxon has under their control yet are only focused on financial gain.  Kirby/Lee help the world when Roxxon turns its focus towards conquest.  Didn’t know that Weapon H had access to his powers in his baseline form, thought he needed to Hulk-Out to access his abilities.

The Punisher #222 surprised me that Carol didn’t recruit a Wolverine (Old or Laura) to help with Frank or at least Cable.

Justice League – No Justice #2 reintroduces us to Vril Dox (Continuity Be Damned).  I wonder if his dealings with Lobo still exists in this Rebirth Continuity.  Would love to have a L.E.G.I.O.N. revival come from this.

The Meh Pile:

Nothing that horrid & foul has polluted the pull list.
