Birthright No. 25 made me wonder why Kallista is so deformed by the Nevermind and Mikey is relatively fine. Does the duration of the corruption determine the level of deformity? It’s interesting to learn that the Nevermind doesn’t control the infected just whispers “truth” into their ears, so there’s some hope for Mikey. I wonder what choice Mikey will make now with what happened to his brother, the rejection of his loved ones, & the unexpected fatherhood.

Bug No. 2 reminded me of Madman with the purity & innocence of the character. I loved his inventive side with converting radio into a mother box.  I also love the World War time travel element which reminded me of the more fun-loving aspect of Doctor Who. The Plug Robots & Abominable Snowmen had a campy B-Movie vibe.

Winnebago Graveyard No. 1 reminded me of a time in American Cinema when movies were actually scary and didn’t rely on excessive gore or cheap tricks to garner fright. It has the vibe of something that made me sleep with the lights on as a kid.

Worthy Mentions:

X-Men Blue No. 5 surprised me with the return of Miss Sinister (forgot that she existed with the return of the original). Part of me wished that Marauders weren’t so bland as villains outside of Pietro (he’s consistently and entertaining little jerk).

Action Comics No. 981 surprises me that this iteration of Clark who has been trained by numerous top fighters (and in Kryptonian martial arts) is not on par with Zod (discounting his affliction). Part of me is glad that Henshaw is back because he was my favorite Superman villain. Terence Stamp is the only Zod I acknowledge

Weapon X No. 4 reminded me of Dragon Ball Z in the sense that Amadeus like Gohan has this massive dormant power that he just sits on until he’s pushed to the edge.  It’s the perfect illustration of the difference between Banner and Cho. I want to know how Striker is even alive? Is this remnant of the first X-Force and all those resurrected bigots or did Secret Wars bring him back?

Kingpin No. 5 disappointed me a bit that Fisk became a reflection of his Netflix iteration with the inclusion of Wesley. Wesley hobbled Fisk in the Netflix series because he was virtually unable to function & operate effectively without him. I hope that this doesn’t happen to the comic iteration.

Defenders No. 1 annoyed me for the same reason Kingpin disappointed me.  I dislike when other media re-flavors the source material (i.e. Spider-Man movie resulting in Peter having organic web shooters).

Uncanny Avengers No. 24 delights me with how much shine/growth Rogue has experienced when she isn’t lost in the crowd on an X-Book.

Superwoman No. 11 had no idea that Natasha’s dad was still alive. Thought it was a bit cliche that he’s a regular criminal, would have been interesting if he was a super villain IMO

Supergirl No. 10 love how we are introduced to more Kryptonian story elements with Kara vs the bare minimum we get with Clark.

The Flash No. 24 aggravated my Reverse Flash fatigue (after dealing with him on the TV series and his unexpected return). Now I have to suffer with him again comic format *deep sigh*.

The Burn Pile:

Many books were extra meh but nothing worth burning or mentioning.
