Pick of the Week:

Invincible Iron Man No. 1 provided some insight to RiRi’s past.  I am happy beyond reason because of the return of Animax.  I loved the fact that her armor used Zero Point Energy and rocket fists.  You can’t go wrong with rocket fists! Overall, I enjoyed this issue and eager for more!

Mother Panic No. 1 reminds me of a Batman: Mask of the Phantasm mixed Batman Beyond.  Violet Paige strikes me as Miley Cyrus’s behavior with Paris Hilton’s birthright/background.  It’s nice to see a Gotham masked vigilante that actually has a visible party lifestyle to mask their crime fighting.

Worth the read:

Action Comics No. 967 found it interesting on so many levels that Lex is basically a Super Sentai hero with his communicator watch containing his armor.  It’s interesting they kept the “Lex, heir to Darkseid” angle.  Wonder how it will play out.

All Star Batman No. 4 reminded me of the episode of Batman the Animated Series where Bruce temporarily lost his eyesight.  It is awesome to see that his contingency plans are that well thought out.

All-New X-Men No. 15 makes me wonder if Brute was the only version of Beast that wasn’t prone to royally screw things up because of his scientific curiosity.  Teen Hank is almost as bad as Adult Hank.

Amazing Spider-Man – Renew Your Vows No. 1 gave us a glimpse of what Peter’s life could have been life if not for those editorial mandates that Peter remain a single and struggling loser.

Avengers No. 1.1 made me laugh out loud.  Pasty Pot Pete actually defeated someone? Wow, never thought I would see the day where the king of the morts beat someone!

Batman TMNT Adventures No. 1 partially surprised that they combined these particular animated versions, but it makes sense.  They both have a mix of hilarious and gritty.

Black Panther – World of Wakanda No. 1 fleshes out the Midnight Angels and Zenzi’s background.  It is interesting to see such a technologically advanced society is unable to liberate itself from base human inclinations.

Black No. 2 bottled the current racial climate and dispersed it through a superhero genre filter.

Captain America – Steve Rogers No. 7 reminds me that the Skull is more than an over-the-top buffoon who inspired Cobra Commander.  He is a brilliant and devious threat.  I am confused about the Zemo angle, did the Cube alter his history as well?

Casanova Acedia No. 7 makes me wonder why this hasn’t been optioned for a cable series.  It has enough drama and sci-fi weirdness to capture an audience.

Deadpool – Back in Black No. 3 reminded me of Freakazoid with the zany situations and characters.  It was rich that a villain would actually have attack bunnies.  It’s about as sensible as a dude made up of bees but at least bees have an element of danger to them.

Detective Comics No. 944 made a lot of sense with all the chaos that occurs in Gotham there had to be people caught in the crossfire.  It is illogical to think no one suffered for Wayne’s war against crime and the rogues he inspired.

Doom Patrol No. 3 made me yearn for the last Umbrella Academy series. It is the perfect blend of trippy weirdness, suspense, and action.  Wonder if we will see a remix of Rebis, created from the fusion of Cliff, Larry & the negative entity.

Earth 2 – Society No. 18 like the fact that this series deals with a dystopia and the period after dystopia.  Lois is still an elemental android, Dick is Batman and an unexpectedly father.  They are all coping and pushing forward.

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps No. 8 made me wonder how long this heroic faction of Yellow Lanterns would last and if Guy would get a Sinestro Corps ring like he did in previous continuity.

Mosaic No. 2 reminds me of Quantum Leap with the body hoping aspect but he doesn’t have the regard for the lives of those inhabit like Sam did.

Poe Dameron No. 8 fleshed out Agent Terex and gave us a level of understand for his motivation and the method to his madness.

Power Man and Iron Fist No. 10 made me want to see a Fang Gang comic or mini-series.  It’s nice to see a certain Runaway back.  His plans make sense and falls in lines with what the original Pride did.

Red Hood & the Outlaws No. 4 made me yearn for a Bizarro who is mentally stable.  I don’t understand how the opposite of Superman is mentally handicap?  The Smallville Bizarro was cowardly, sneaky and villainous to counter Clark’s bravery, honesty, and virtue.  Why can’t the comic writers follow suit?

Scooby Apocalypse No. 7

The Flash No. 10 gave me a true sense of this Wally and I wouldn’t mind seeing him in a solo series.  He reminds me of Miles Morales on one level.

The Unbelievable Gwenpool No. 8 made realize that Gwen’s team isn’t that bad and made me wonder how formidable they would be if an Alex Wilder or a Kingpin took charge of them.

Uncanny Avengers No. 16 reminds us that the threat of extinction makes for strange bedfellows.  Don’t see how much value Toad would have in their battle but Shaw would be invaluable.  It surprises how Cap still carries this level of respect after all the hypocritical crap he has pulled.

Wonder Woman No. 10 made me appreciate Diana & Steve’s bond even more.

Nah, Just Nah:

Daredevil No. 13, New Super-Man No. 5, Solo No. 2, Spider-Man Deadpool No. 11, The Clone Conspiracy No. 2, & Uncanny X-Men 15 were boring as well.
