The Prescriptions for 9/14/16

birthright_19-1

Pick of the Week:

Birthright No. 19 fleshes out Sameal’s backstory and his connection with the other mages as well as revealed how they arrived on Earth.  I am curious about the ramification of Mikey’s healing last issue.

Black Panther No. 6 showed T’Challa taking down Zeke using Doom tech.

Detective Comics No. 940 pretty much established Tim Drake as the best Robin IMO.

Doom Patrol No. 1 possibly revealed the origins of Danny the Street as well as showed us a world existing in a gyro.

Red Hood & the Outlaws No. 2 made me care about Artemis and Jason Todd as well set up the Black Mask for something greater in the villain hierarchy.

The Flash No. 6 reveals the identity of Godspeed.  The reveal made sense yet caught me off guard.  It also makes me wonder if he used the CW Reverse Flash’s tactic.

Worth the read:

A-Force No. 9 made me respect Singularity more and cements her as the heart of the group.

Action Comics No. 963 makes me wonder who Clark Kent really is, could he be from a dimension where Clark is the biological son of John and Martha Kent.

All Star Batman No. 2 had me at Batman using his “ears” as daggers.

All New Inhumans No. 11 had a real touching moment with Gorgon.

All New X-Men No. 13 gave Kid Apocalypse an almost Noh-varr affinity to music.  It is interesting how the world’s potentially most dangerous mutant and “son” of a genocidal Darwinist is so touched by music.

Batgirl and the Birds of Prey No. 2 felt a bit clunky trying to reconcile the new 52 super spy Huntress with the pre-reboot Babs and Rebirth Black Canary.

Black Science No. 24 continues to be the best version of Sliders.

Briggsland No. 1 & No. 2 is a compelling story with an unsavory but ultimately human cast.

Civil War II – Amazing Spider-Man No. 4 continues me irk me with how blindly Carol’s faction follows Ulysses’ prophecy.

Civil War II – Gods of War No. 4 seems like a poor man’s version of American Gods.

Deadpool No. 18 fleshes out how Deadpool 2099 potentially came into being.

Deathstroke No. 2 is interesting in the sense that Slade is going against Capes who aren’t the Teen Titans.

Gotham Academy – Second Semester No. 1 has an interesting place in the Bat Universe and has a more human & grounded versus the insanity of the Gotham we typically see.

Green Lanterns No. 6 continues to organically build a relationship between the rookie Lanterns.

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps No. 4 reminded me why Guy is my favority Lantern.  He’s the practical everyman.

Mockingbird No. 7 was Venture Bros odd, which is a good thing IMO.

New Super-Man No. 3 still reminds me of Mega Mind.

Old Man Logan No. 11 confuses me in the sense that a human martial artist can hold his own against a cyborg ninja assassin and an older more experienced Logan.

Rocket Racoon and Groots No. 9 gave us a superior depiction of Gwenpool.

Scarlet Witch No. 10 reminded me of a Japanese Horror film for some odd reason.

Scooby Apocalypse No. 5 somehow made Shaggy & Scooby more likeable IMO.

Spider-Man 2099 No. 15 is enjoyable because the return of the 2099 cast like X-Men 2099.

Spider-Man No. 8 showed us how the young heroes dealt with the madness and chaos which is Civil War II.

The Unbelievable Gwenpool No. 6 seemed to try a bit hard in terms of being meta.

Uncanny Avengers No. 14 reminds me why I hate Steve Rogers sometimes, he is hypocrital. He knows what evil the government is capable of and even abandoned his mantle in protest. Now, Cable & Wade are a bunch of criminals worthy of his scorn? He’s the same guy who gave Namor, a terrorist and has aligned himself with terrorists infinite passes.  Hell, the Avengers are full of former criminals and reprobates, but Wade & Cable are the worst ever.

Uncanny Inhumans No. 13 gives us more Tony vs the Inhumans… smh… wonder if Tony will side with the mutants for the upcoming mutant inhuman war.

Wonder Woman No. 6 is definitely taking its time with this Diana narrative.

Nah, Just Nah:

Nothing was horrid this week.
