Pick of the Week – Switch No. 1

What I dug: The neat way the Darkness, the Angelus, and the Witchblade were explained was a plus. The reintroduction of Sonatine and Kenneth Irons was unexpected but welcomed. The fact that the Witchblade is no longer a metallic bikini is a huge improvement. Mary is an impressive character with a Peter Parker appeal. Also loved how the artist’s term and child characters actually looked their age.

What I don’t fancy: Not a thing!

Astronauts in Trouble No. 5

What I dug: The setting reminded me of those retro space films. The cast was very engaging and is a major draw.

What I don’t fancy: Nothing stands out.

East of West No. 21

What I dug: This issue was great examination of the politics of the world powers. The readers discovered Mao’s involvement in the chaos. It was great to see the other leaders of the Endless Nation and the lengths they would go to survive.

What I don’t fancy: Nothing stood out.

Buy or Nah: Buy it!

Faster Than Light No. 2

What I dug: The overall setting has an Aliens vibe.  The planet and its inhabitants are something out of an acid-induced Giger nightmare.

What I don’t fancy: Nothing

I hate Fairyland No. 1

What I dug: The story and artwork are insane.  This series would be perfect for an animated series.

What I don’t fancy: Nothing stands out.

Buy or Nah: Buy!

Low No. 10

What I dug: It is summed up in three words, telepathic vampiric mermaids. The artwork was splendid!

What I don’t fancy: Nada

Satellite Sam Deluxe Hardcover

What I dug: This story defied my expectations. I thought it was one of those retro future Buck Rogers with the Fraction edge. The story was a surprising crime noir. The art suited the series.

What I don’t fancy: I feel that the story could have worked without the M rated elements.

Buy or Nah: Buy!
