First Image of Henry Cavill in Superman: Man of Steel

After the failings of Superman Returns, Warner Bros decided to reboot the Superman movie franchise. Superman:  Man of Steel is set for a 2013 release, with Henry Cavill set to play the Man of Steel.  This morning, Warner Bros released the first image for the movie, which can be seen in it’s entirety at the bottom of the page.

Fanboys around the world are wasting no time dissecting Supe’s new attire.  For one, Superman is not rocking his trademark “S” curl on his forehead.  There also doesn’t seem to be any red trunks to go on his waist, though the shadows make it hard to see.  The “S” on his chest seems fine but I’m sure if displayed fully someone would find error with it.  That’s just how fans of comic book heroes are.  They want their heroes to look the same on the big screen as they do in the comics.

A few days ago I had a healthy debate on Twitter regarding Superman.  I was surprised to see so many people standing up for the Caped Crusader.  Personally I never got the appeal of Superman, but I do recognize that he is the most recognizable superhero period.  All I ask for our of a Superman movie is awesome fight sequences.  With all the advances in technology and special effects, this should not be hard to pull off.  The filmmakers can even borrow from The Matrix movies if they need inspiration.  So listen up Hollywood….give us a Superman that whoop’s ass!
