Entourage Season 8 Ep 5 Review

Compared to last week’s episode of Entourage, last night’s was action packed.  Shauna, Vince’s publicist, has setup an interview for him with Vanity Fair.  When Vince lays eyes on the writer, Sophia (Alice Eve), he is impressed with her beauty. Again Turtle accompanies Vince to the interview, making two straight episodes that they’ve been paired together.  I rather like that the last few seasons they’ve mixed up the dynamics by not having Eric/Vince and Drama/Turtle constantly together. During Turtle’s storyline of going to college he was always on camera with Vince.  Also since Eric’s new job he doesn’t have time to babysit Vince all the time.  Nothing overtly major, but something I have noticed.

Eric, Drama and Scott are brainstorming on getting Andrew Dice Clay back as a voice actor on Johnny’s Bananas.  During this meeting, Eric mentions that he’s meeting with Sloan’s ex-stepmother, Melinda.  She wants Eric to represent her.  Now on the surface this sounds harmless.  But this being Hollywood, there are always ulterior motives.  There are hundreds of agents that Melinda could choose from….why Eric?

Today is Ari’s day to have the kids.  They are dropped off at his office and are suppose to go to DisneyWorld.  Ari, being the super agent that he is, doesn’t have time to go to DisneyWorld.  This doesn’t sit well with the kids of course.  Luckily Ari’s daughter is a Taylor Lautner fan and he’s stopping by the office. Nothing like using your job to score some brownie points with your children.

Vince is making it hard for Sophia to conduct a professional interview.  After every question he laces his response with a hint of flirtation.  Sophia brushes each advance off and plows away with the next question.  Finally she ends the interview and leaves, giving Shauna a chance to scold Vince.  But what was Vince suppose to do when an attractive woman is talking to him, not try to get the skins?  That would fly in the face of the last seven seasons.

Drama and Jamie Kennedy have no chemistry while cutting vocals for Johnny’s Bananas.  Knowing that the only way Dice will come back to the show is witha pay raise, Drama offers up half of his salary to make up the difference.  Dice is touched that Drama would do such a thing, but in the end refuses.  The Man Code reads that the company has to be the one to pay Dice, not Drama.  You don’t question Man Code, it’s bad for business.

Ari once again disappoints by not being able to deliver Taylor Lautner.  As he drops his kids off at home Mrs. Ari lets him know that she is filing for a divorce.  This leaves Ari only one choice…to go to his hotel room and drink his sorrows away. Dana Gordon, who he also had a fight with at the office when they both let their personal feelings get in the way of work, calls him up.  Even though they fought, she still wants to be with him.  She can overlook the uncomfortable situation with his family, as long as they take things one day at a time.  I’m glad that show producers decided on Dana Gordon as a new love interest for Ari, instead of introducing someone new.  They’ve had a playful relationship since she was introduced, and now is the payoff to that.  Maybe it is time for Ari to move on from Mrs. Ari.

Finally, Eric meets Melinda for drinks to discuss her representation.  They share stories of Sloan and her father, and things seem to be going well until the conversation turns to viagra.  I’ll give you one guess where mixing alcohol plus viagra into a conversation leads to.  If you guessed naked in a bed together, then you’re correct!  Eric sleeps with Sloan’s ex-stepmother. Since Eric can never have sex with a woman without emotions being involved, he’s torn up about this.  Melinda tells him to relax and blame it on the alcohol. Women, being able to sense when their man or even ex is in a compromising position, calls Eric.  She’s livid because her father told her about an email Melinda sent him, stating she was going to sleep with Eric.  Eric denies that part, but admits to meeting with Melinda to discuss representation.  So now we’re left to see how this plays out for the remaining episodes.

All in all, a pretty entertaining episode to make up for the stink-bomb last week.  Every main character had enough TV time.  And next week HBO is even giving us a sneak peak at episode seven on HBOGo, their online app.

What are your thoughts on the episode?
