Entourage Season 8 Ep 3 Review

With so many plot points and drama (non pun intended) going on at once, it’s a shame that this last season of Entourage is only eight episodes.  The journey of getting to the final eighth episode and seeing what is in store along the way is the real thrill.

The show started with Vince attending an AA meeting.  Immediately my eyes caught a Wesley Snipes look-alike in the group. I’m telling you the guy looked EXACTLY like Wesley Snipes circa early 2000’s, except with coke-bottle glasses on.  At the meeting Vince runs into Carl Erst, who originally screwed Vince out of Danger Beach.  Vince sets up a meeting to show Erst his screenplay.

Ari’s separation from Mrs. Ari Gold is starting to affect his work.  Ari forgets to send Lloyd an email regarding Vince.  Lloyd wants to set up Ari with a lady friend of his.  This prompts Ari to drop this gem, “When I go out women will fall and men will flail.”  During this date we get to see Ari do something we’ve never seen him do before: freeze up.  We’re use to the powerful Ari Gold being boisterous and pompous…not stuttering over his words and dodging eye contact.  This moment of weakness is still great to behold though.

The star of this episode has to be Andrew Dice Clay.  He’s making a power play to get himself and Drama more money to do the voices in the cartoon series Johnny’s Bananas.  Dice keeps repeating how the guy who voices Homer Simpson gets $600,000 an episode.  Of course The Simpsons has been on for 20+ seasons, but who’s counting?  I particularly enjoyed when Scott, Drama and E called the cartoon guy on speakerphone to negotiate new contracts.

Back to Ari’s date.  He has a chance to close the deal with her while they snuggle in his car, when her roommate comes knocking on the window to kill the mood.    When Ari declines to go inside, he references How Stella Got Her Groove Back, which goes right over the poor young girl’s head.  Ari’s night isn’t a total loss, since he convinces Dana Gordon to let him come over (to smash of course!)

After Dice’s demand for more money, he’s replace on the cartoon by Jamie Kennedy of all people.  This doesn’t sit well with Walsh, who says Kennedy is God awful.  I hope Kennedy makes a few more appearances…for a minute I thought he was Pauly Shore, which would have sent things WAY over the top.

The show ends with Vince and Turtle at Erst’s home.  He’s fallen off the wagon and is using drugs again. Turtle wants to leave but Vince won’t let him.  He’s determined to help his fellow addict.  The dramatic ending comes when Erst locks himself in the bathroom, snorts some lines of coke, then takes a pistol to his chin and pulls the trigger.  I’m anxious to see how Vince takes this.  Will he blame himself and relapse also? Make sure to comment and leave your thoughts on tonight’s episode and the season so far.
