Pick of the Week:

Jean Grey No. 2 reminded me that Hope Summers still exists because I completely forgot about her.  It was interesting to see Jean interact with her “daughter” and “step grand daughter.” It also reminded how twisted family relationships are in the X-Universe: Jean’s younger than her “daughter” and about the same age as her “grand daughter.”  I wonder if Jean knows that her family has been wiped out by the Sh’iar.

X-Men Blue No. 4 made me wonder if Ultimate characters are sprinkled into the prime reality because 616 and the Ultimate Universe were converging before Secret Warriors. I figured Miles was seamlessly integrated because he gave Molecule Man a burger and that was his reward. Ultimate Reed is sprinkled through the new multiverse as punishment for trying to toy with Molecule Man. But Jimmy and his buddies’ inclusion the real stumper… It was interesting to see Bobby use his powers creatively when facing Jimmy. Part of me is surprised that Hank didn’t curse him or something jerky like sending Cain Marko to Hell.

All Guardians of the Galaxy No. 2 is impressing me with this space heist angle and the detail of the Collector’s security system! The development with the Groot splinters is definitely creepy. I also wonder what dark, twisted dream goes on in Drax’s mind to send the Collector’s fear agents packing.

Worthy Mentions:

Venom No. 150 revealed what happened between Flash and the symbiote. It also gave the reader a true sense of how broken and mentally damaged the symbiote truly is.

X-O Manowar No. 3 is currently filling the Space Conan void left by the Prophet series but more grounded.

Rapture No. 1 reminded me of Shadow Man’s role in Stalinverse: some attack dog kept on a leash until his services are needed.

Detective Comics No. 957 reminded me of the consistency of Bullock, showed that Stephanie is able to handle herself, and reminded me that Anarchy is still around.

Mother Panic No. 7 showed some of Violet’s humanity with her putting the needs of an innocent above her desire for revenge.

Batman The Shadow No. 2 made me wonder why this crossover didn’t happen sooner. It makes perfect sense that the Shadow mentored and trained Bruce.

Moon Girl and Devil Dino No. 19 is a nice palate cleanse for the current grim and edgy stories.

The Burn Pile:

Many books were extra meh but nothing worth burning or mentioning.
