‘Marvel’s The Inhumans’ To Premiere As ABC Series In IMAX Theaters

Marvel’s The Inhumans television series to air on ABC and have it’s first two episodes premiere in IMAX theaters for two-week window.

The Inhumans live-action movie may be on hold at Marvel Studios, but the race of superhumans will still leave a mark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel.com reports that Marvel’s The Inhumans will debut as a TV series on ABC, with the first two episodes airing in IMAX theaters.

The first two episodes will air exclusively in IMAX for a two-week window beginning September 2017, with the ABC series beginning in the fall. The series “will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family.”

I’m of course excited about this news, as it means Marvel is not abandoning the “Inhumans” live-action concept. Inhumans first appeared in the ABC series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and a Marvel Studios filmed was taken off the planned lineup.

Part of me wishes a movie was in the works instead. The vast powers that the Royal Guard possess were meant to be displayed on the big screen. Plus the special effects budget for primetime television is a lot less than featured films. If this were a Netflix series it could be an epic fantasy drama similar to Game of Thrones.

Ultimately, Marvel knows what it’s doing in the entertainment field. They must have a reason for skipping an Inhumans movie in favor of TV. Perhaps they want to build up their ABC television ranks after the planned Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoffs were axed, along with Agent Carter. Hopefully, this will bring more eyes to the Inhuman comic books as well.
