What Is Marvel’s Mysterious “MU” Teaser For?

Marvel has begun a new round of teaser images for something called “MU”. All will be revealed September 1st at 6:45 PM ET.

*UPDATE* We’re a little over four hours away before we find out what “MU” means. For now, we have three additional teaser images with three artists attached.

Adam Kubert, Leinil Yu, and Salvador Larroca join Steve McNiven and Greg Land as the list of “MU” artists.

Again, all will be answered at 6:45 PM ET.

*ORIGINAL STORY* Last Friday afternoon Marvel quietly released a teaser image for a project from artist Steve McNiven and Cullen Bunn. The words “MU” were written in silver with the creators’ names up above in orange/gold. January 2017 looks to be the publishing date.

If you want answers, you won’t have to wait long. September 1st at 6:45 PM ET Marvel has something planned — perhaps a press release on a major news site with all the details?

Speculation on what the project could be ranged from something X-Men related or “Marvel Universe” specific. The initials “MU” stand for “Marvel Universe” but I feel that’s too easy a guess. Cullen Bunn is working out of the X-Office so perhaps it’s something pertaining to mutants. “Mutant University” or “Mutant Universe”?

Then today the second teaser was released, this time replacing Steve McNiven for Greg Land.

Could “MU” be an ensemble project similar to the Point One stories Marvel likes to release every few years? A comic to set up the next stage of publishing for the X-Men and Inhumans?

With September 1st fast approaching, we won’t have to wait long for answers.
