The Doktor’s Prescriptions of 6/29/16

EastOfWest_27-1

Pick of the Week:

Black Panther No. 3 present a very complicated and gray story because each side is justified in their actions and righteousness doesn’t solely rest with T’Challa.  Maybe the time of kings is truly over.  T’Challa’s stepmother made a valid point about his rule vs his predecessors’ rule.

East of West No. 27 continues to be an excellent example of Weird West.  I was not expecting this outcome at all, especially to a character that I was so attached to.  His decision makes perfect sense based on his characterization but Wow!

Jupiter’s Legacy Vol 2. No. 2 gives us the origins of Hutch’s power rod and the formation of their revolution army.  Kudos to Sunny Gho and Frank Quitely for the amazing artwork! Kudos to Millar on the NuMillar writing style.

Worth the read:

All-New, All-Different Avengers No. 11 continues to give the kiddie Avengers their first taste of a space adventure.

Captain America – Steve Rogers No. 2 explains the origins of Hydra Cap & illustrates how Red Skull shifted into the seductive evil category w. his corruption of the cosmic cube.

Captain Marvel No. 6 is the best Civil War II tie-in in the sense that it tells a complete story that is bogged down by this mega event.  The fans get to see some aspects of Carol & Rhodey’s relationship.

Darth Vader No. 22 shows why Vader is such a feared and boogieman-esque figure.

Extraordinary X-Men No. 11 presented a very different Apocalypse and confused by the impact of Kurt’s action.

Hyperion No. 4 presents us with a possible Starro pastiche.

Jupiter’s Circle TP Vol. 2 explains the motivations and decisions made in the previous series.

Mockingbird No. 4 has a kooky Archer meets Venture Bros vibe (which isn’t a bad thing).

Saga TP Vol 6 continues to have an Adult Swim meets Adventure Time vibe.

Silk No. 8 sets up Cindy Moon for a Peter Parker-esque world crumbling.

Spider-Gwen Annual No. 1 reveals the true identity of a presidential candidate.  It all makes sense now.

Spider-Man No. 5 makes me wonder how this will play out for Miles & his family in the near future.

The Haunted Mansion No. 4 is an expected gem of a read

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl No. 9 continues with the vibe you would expect, it’s readable.

Uncanny Inhumans No. 11 shows us that the Inhumans bring a tactical nuke to a gunfight.

Nah, Just Nah:

Dark Knight III – The Master Race No. 5

Spider-Man-Deadpool No. 6 was extra meh.

Star-Lord No. 8 seems to drag on too long.

Uncanny X-Men No. 9 continues to make Warren almost 90’s Hawkman radioactive.

Venom – Space Knight No. 9 is meh.
