The Doktor’s Prescription for 5/25/16

Picks of the Week:

Legacy of Luther Strode No. 6

This series overall has been a visually treat with the added bonus of a good story.  This issue didn’t disappoint.

Weirdworld No. 6

They fleshed out Morganna La Fey and transformed her from a villainous prop to an organic character. The reader could sympathize with her and ultimately feel anger towards her actions.

Red Wolf No. 6

Love the weird west vibe of the book! The type of backup wasn’t expected at all.

Captain Marvel No. 5

Love the Deep Space Nine vibe, the utilization of the Alpha Flight team, and relationship between Danvers and Brand.

Doctor Strange No. 8

Love seeing the once potent magic users struggling and being forced into a corner to adapt to using only their wit and desire to live.

Ms. Marvel No. 7

Sky Shark! Sky Shark needs to be a Pet Avengers.  I was impressed by the level of technology developed by high school students.

Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur No. 8

It was a very interesting development of Inhuman powers. I wonder if Moon Girl’s powers only works on DD.

Worth the read:

Aloha Hawaiian Dick No. 2 reminds me of a mix of Hawaii 5 and Magnum PI.

Captain America – Steve Rogers No. 1 definitely broke the internet.

Carnage No. 8 is interesting.

Daredevil No. 7 reminds me about what I loved about Daredevil.

DC Universe – Rebirth No. 1 brought back the Flash I grew up with and dug.

Deadpool No. 12 have us another interesting tale of Deadpool 2099.

Drax No. 7 makes me wish that Cammi and Drax were a duo again.

Extraordinary X-Men No. 10 had an endearing moment with Yana teaching her ward.

Hyperion No. 3 made me squirm.

Justice League No. 50 gave us 3 Jokers and Wonder Twins.

Mockingbird No. 3 was a bit meh.

Nighthawk No. 1 is interesting in the sense that very few Marvel books actually tackles a current and real world issue.

Obi-Wan & Anakin No. 5 has to be the most boring Star Wars tale.

Spider-Man & Deadpool No. 5 did the unexpected by undoing a much reviled Spider-Man storyline.  I wonder how this will affect Aunt May’s life.

Star Wars No. 19 is a perfect illustration of Leia’s strength.

Starbrand and Nightmask No. 6 is interesting in the sense that the Marvel Cosmos is being fleshed in a “lowkey” book.

The Mighty Thor No. 7 fleshed out Loki abit. He has a Nathan from Misfits vibe.

The Totally Awesome Hulk No. 6 was a bit meh.

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl No. 8 was another zany tale.

Uncanny Inhumans No. 9 makes me wonder about Johnny.

Nah, Just Nah:

Amazing Spider-Man No. 1.5 is terribly boring IMO. It’s criminally boring!

Tokyo Ghost No. 7 reminds me of a mix of gritty bleak 90’s Image Comics & over-the-top Old Millar. I can see where the team is trying to convey but BY CROM the execution!
