Pick of the Week – Kaptara Vol. 1
What I dug: The story telling style reminds me of Birthright and Venture Bros in the sense that it takes classic elements and modernize them. It’s skewed towards the quirky comedic like Venture Bros. The storyline reminds me of a mix of Lost in Space and He-Man.
What I don’t fancy: Not a thing!

Pick of the Week – Paybacks No. 4
What I dug: It’s unpredictable nature. I was not expecting the Josh Whedon outcome! Bloodpouch is like all the best Liefeld design elements rolled up into one.
What I don’t fancy: Nada!

Pick of the Week – Darth Vader No. 14
What I dug: I am glad that BT-1 and 0-0-0 are still around. 0-0-0’s encounter with C3PO was hilarious. 0-0-0 and DT-1 easily eclipse IG-88 as most awesome assassin droids.
What I don’t fancy: That I may never see the dynamic duo of assassination on television or film.

Pick of the Week – Patsy Walker, A.K.A. Hellcat No. 1
What I dug: The story and style has all of the appeal of DC’s strong female lead books such as Batgirl and Gotham Academy. The art is so vibrant and animated.
What I don’t fancy: Nada!

Amazing Spider-Man No. 5
What I dug: Industrialist Peter Parker isn’t a poor man’s Tony Stark and feels like a natural progression of Peter’s civilian career path.
What I don’t fancy: Feels like the big bad was revealed too early.

Angela – Queen of Hel No. 3
What I dug: The return of Skurge the Executioner was unexpected and welcomed.
What I don’t fancy: It seems like Skurge who died a noble death will be used as some test for Angela!

Captain America – Sam Wilson No. 4
What I dug: The Serpent Society is operating in the business world in a manner similar to the Cobra Twins from GI Joe.
What I don’t fancy: Too much Cap Wolf!

Chew No. 53
What I dug: The time travel element was done in such a way that was clean and straightforward. The strange chicken creatures were visually interesting.
What I don’t fancy: Nada!

Daredevil No. 2
What I dug: Matt’s apprentice shows promise.
What I don’t fancy: The Hand and Tenfingers, more the Hand! Why can’t someone create new skilled cannon fodder for Matt to face?
Buy or Nah: On the fence
Deadpool No. 4
What I dug: Wade’s interaction with Cap showed a side of Cap I missed! The Cap that willing to see the best in people and give them a chance. The Mercenaries for Hire’s attire reminded me of a super Sentai team.
What I don’t fancy: Nada!

Extraordinary X-Men No. 4
What I dug: Cerebra and her rocky relationship with Old Man Logan is priceless.
What I don’t fancy: The return of ***** feels like a red herring.

What I dug: Fran and Babb dialogue felt so natural and organic. The flashback truly compliment the main story.
What I don’t fancy: The art feels a bit stylized for the story!

Island No. 5
What I dug: The space cannibal story was interesting and the main draw IMO.
What I don’t fancy: Not enough space cannibals!

Jupiter’s Circle No. 2
What I dug: The glimpse of where George got his idea and the stones to follow through with it.
What I don’t fancy: The ending, it felt like old over-the-top Millar!

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur No. 2
What I dug: The caveman tribe and their interaction with their new surrounding was visually engaging.
What I don’t fancy: Nada!

New Avengers No. 4
What I dug: The current big bad is a refreshing change.
What I don’t fancy: The art doesn’t seem like a good fit!

Pretty Deadly No. 7
What I dug: The Weird West setting and Emma Rios art are the main draws IMO
What I don’t fancy: The story probably isn’t new reader friendly.

What I dug: … *Kanye Shrug*
What I don’t fancy: It felt like a mix of over-the-top Millar and the horrid gritty 90’s comics.

What I dug: Jessica Drew, this is the first time I found the character interesting/appealing.
What I don’t fancy: Sick of Skrulls, can’t they get a rest?

Star-Lord No. 2
What I dug: The retelling of how Peter and Yondu met was enjoyable. It provided a deeper sense of Peter’s character.
What I don’t fancy: Nada!

What I dug: The quirky comedy that evokes Venture Bros vibes!
What I don’t fancy: Nada!

Venom – Space Knight No. 2
What I dug: The art is the main appeal and I am digging Venom in space premise.
