Pick of the Week – Secret Wars – Agents of Atlas No. 1

What I dug: Gorilla Man wearing a rocket pack is the second visual stunning scene after a ghost rider T-Rex riding a jet.  I enjoyed Coulson’s interaction with the Agents.  Steve Pugh’s art is a perfect fit.

What I don’t fancy: Not a thing!

Buy or Nah: BUY IT NOW!!!

Pick of the Week – Karnak No. 1

What I dug: Karnak is a perfect fit for Warren Ellis. Mr. Ellis excels at writing brilliant and inquisitive characters. Gerardo Zaffino’s art is made for this!

What I don’t fancy: Not a thing!

Buy or Nah: BUY IT NOW!!!

1872 No. 4

What I dug: The end of the series was satisfying, especially the implied fate of Bruce Banner and Peter Parker. I enjoyed the strong female presence in the series as well.

What I don’t fancy: Not a real complaint, I want to see more Pastor Castle.

Buy or Nah: Buy!

Amazing Spider-Man No. 2

What I dug: I continue to enjoy the Parker Technology and its combat application.  I also enjoy the confidence that Parker must say that this book has one of the most unique settings and cast.  Also learned to never mess with an alarm cat with nothing to lose.

What I don’t fancy: Nothing stood out.

Buy or Nah: Buy it!

Darth Vader No. 11

What I dug: The expansion of Vader’s character was a treat.  I enjoy his portrayal as something more than Palpatine’s lapdog and enforcer.  The art is a visual treat.

What I don’t fancy: Nada!

Buy or Nah: Buy!

Invincible Iron Man No. 2

What I dug: One word, DOOM! I have been ranting about Doom ditching his armor for years. It seems like Bendis iteration is moving beyond his previous concerns and towards something greater. I hoped that he would have done this after Millar’s FF run.

What I don’t fancy: Nada!

Buy or Nah: Buy!

Journey to Star Wars No. 4

What I dug: I am pleased with this tour in the Star Wars universe and enjoy the fact that it’s not Luke, Leila, Han, etc

What I don’t fancy: Nada!

Buy or Nah: Buy!

SHIELD No. 11

What I dug: The Howard Chaykin art is the main draw.

What I don’t fancy: Found the story a tad boring!

Buy or Nah: Nah!

The Astonishing Ant Man No. 1

What I dug: I am interested to find out how Scott ended up *there*. Scott and his crew are entertaining.

What I don’t fancy: Nothing stands out!

Buy or Nah: Buy!

Uncanny Inhumans No. 1

What I dug: The expanded Inhuman drama is interesting. Gorgon is coping as one would expect for a warrior and I think he adjusting well in his new role as mentor. Would have loved to see more of the ancient Inhumans.

What I don’t fancy: I am tired of Kang after his dealing with Uncanny Avengers.

Buy or Nah: Buy

Weird World No. 5

What I dug: The ending was completely unexpected. The final battle was epic and was superbly illustrated by Del Mundo.  Aaron excels on these warrior epics, I would love to see him write Conan someday.

What I don’t fancy: Nada!

Buy or Nah: Buy!

What If Infinity – GotG No. 1

What I dug: The art was the main appeal.

What I don’t fancy: It doesn’t seem to carry the same gravity as previous What If

Buy or Nah: Nah
