The Doktor’s reviews

Top Pick Secret Identities No. 7

SecretIdentities_07-1_362_557_s_c1

What I dug: The series ended in such a satisfying way. The motivation of the mastermind was revealed & the reason is understandable. I love how the reveal became impetus for the protagonists becoming better people. I hope the creators revisit the series soon.
What I didn’t fancy: It’s done & I can’t get my fix now *sniff*
Buy or Nah: Definitely pick this up… while you’re at it, go to www.imagecomics.com & purchase the entire series.

Tokyo Ghost
What I dug: The cyber punk element, character designs, and the world building grabbed my attention.
The design of the antagonist’s cybernetic arm was a nice homage to the yesteryear of gaming

What I didn’t fancy: A bit tired of the unstoppable powerhouse variety of protagonist. Prefer to see a hero overcome threats using intelligence & cunning.
Buy or Nah: Pick it up if you’re a fan of the cyber punk genre!
I won’t have What I didn’t fancy for the remaining reviews because I haven’t read the previous issues & don’t have a strong foundation to make such a judgment.

Southern Cross No. 5
What I dug: The overall atmosphere of the book is an amalgam of Event Horizon, Pandorum, and Dead Space. The concept is nightmare inducing.
Buy or Nah: Pick it up

Shutter No. 15
What I dug: It reminded me of the Regular Show & Amazing World of Gumball in the sense that so humanoid lions, humanoid alligators & animated skeletons are common place/normal.
Buy or Nah: If you wondered what the Regular Show geared for adults would look like, then pick this up!

Rat Queens No. 12
What I dug: It’s like Archer & Dungeons and Dragons had a baby.
Buy or Nah: If you like Dungeons and Dragons & Archers, then you will dig it.

A married pleasantly plump collection of flesh, blood, bones, tears, & hope
