Pick of the Week – Wolfe No. 3
What I dig:
Antoine Wolfe struck me as more sympathetic and likeable John Constantine.  This version of California and its inhabitants reminded me of Angel’s version of California.  The evil had bureaucratic corporate vibe. The confirmation of a Cthulhu-human hybrid and the existence of more powerful Lovecraftian horrors was an unexpected touch.
What I didn’t fancy:
No real complaint

Invisible Republic No. 6
What I dig: The relationship between Maia and the rest of the cast is a plus in my book. The revelation of how the movement saw Arthur McBridge. Gabriel Hardman’s art is a major draw in my book.
What I didn’t fancy: Not a true complaint, I greatly enjoy this type of story in trade format because waiting 30 days is too long.
Buy or Nah: It might be a slow burn but you should pick it up.

Manhattan Project No. 3
What I dig: The cast is interesting and unexpected cast consisting of a humanoid dog, a former slave from a scientia-phagic society, a floating two-faced (literally) blob, & a robotic pathological liar.  The alien empires, space combat, and sci-fi bits were enjoyable.  The artwork perfectly suits the story IMO.
What I didn’t fancy: Nothing stands out

Mythic No. 4
What I dig: Doctor Baranski and her origin story is a nice remix of the roaming ghost idea.  The afterlife is a unique amalgam of the various ethereal realms featured in the world’s religions.  This issue’s antagonist reminded me of some monstrous techno-mystical hybrid that would be created by the Initiative (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer).
What I didn’t fancy: The afterlife depiction may offend religious readers

Tech Jacket No. 11
What I dig: The giant robot was my main draw. Its piloting mechanism reminded me of the Titan’s control system from Sym-Bionic Titan.
What I didn’t fancy: Wanted more giant robot battles

A married pleasantly plump collection of flesh, blood, bones, tears, & hope
