Chrononauts has been a wild adventure so far.  Mark Millar and Sean Gordon Murphy are taking time travel and flipping it on it’s head.  Corbin and Danny may be enjoying themselves now, but their associates in the present are not too happy with their exploits.    They’ve sent Mannix’s Alpha-Team to retrieve Corbin and Danny…..dead or alive.

What I Liked

This is a fun and crazy comic book!  The majority of time travel comics spend time dealing with the repercussions of meddling with the time stream.  Chrononauts, on the other hand, could care less with that.  It’s all about insane scenarios, like having our stars interact with The Beatles, or break-up Kennedy’s assassination attempt.

This issue really allowed Murphy and Matt Hollingsworth to let loose on art.  We get our own quick history lesson from Corbin and Danny, as they jump from time period to time period, with Alpha-Team in hot pursuit.  Murphy is able to harness Dukes of Hazzard in the car chase.  All that is missing is the signature car horn.

I really can’t pick one time jump that is my favorite.  My favorites are Super Bowl 1969 and the “acceptable losses”, and the Kennedy Assassination misfire.  I laughed out loud jump after jump.

Extra attention has to be paid to the letterer Chris Eliopoulos for adding sound effects “TURN” and “THUD” throughout the chase scenes.

What I Didn’t Like

Why oh why does this have to be a limited series?  I could read Corbin and Danny’s exploits every month.

Corbin reflecting on his father’s alcoholism seemed to come out of nowhere.  With how carefree the rest of the issue was, this somber moment brought things down and almost seemed out of place.  Maybe it will be picked up on in the next and final issue.  But even if so, it would add another plot point that has to be resolved before the series ends.
