To steal a line from the former WWE announcer Jim Ross, business picks up with issue three of Original Sin.  We have learned that The Orb and Exterminatrix are in possession of at least one of The Watcher’s eyes.  Those eyes hold many secrets of the Marvel Universe and some of them are finally released.

Meanwhile, we catch up with all the teams investigating The Watcher’s murder as they begin to piece together clues.  And could there be a traitor in their midst?

What I Liked

I loved the pace of this issue.  With such a large cast, the action flowed effortlessly.  Even with The Watcher’s secrets being released to the assembled heroes, each secret was not made readily available to readers.  Which was a smart move.  Some stories will be left to be told in other ongoing tie-in comics.

The art team of Mike Deodato and Frank Martin bring the perfect tone to a murder mystery.  Even in the bright-colored panels, there are dark shadows that hang over each page.  That adds a level of suspense that you don’t see in most comics.

If I were a man with more time on my hands, I would try to piece together the clues as to who is Uatu’s real killer.  I have faith in Jason Aaron that these aren’t red herring clues.  He’s too good a writer for that.  Instead of playing the guessing game, I’ll just continue to read each week and be surprised when things are revealed.

Whoever the killer is, they’ve been up to no-good for a long time.  A massive list of bodies have been left in their wake.  These bodies also span the cosmos and other realms.  Plus the killer has left shell casings behind, which means they are prolific with a gun.  So prolific that even The Punisher is impressed with their skills.

Speaking of death, we have a pretty huge one in this issue!  The killer and killing will have message boards going crazy.

What I Didn’t Like

Even though I didn’t mind the large cast and story jumping around, it could be a problem for others.  Also, will the surprise death stick?  Along with who does the killing?

With The Orb and Exterminatrix in possession of one of The Watcher’s eyes, we really don’t see much of them throughout the comic.  Again, this being a result of so many people to squeeze into the book.

Summary

By the end of Original Sin #3 the stage is set for many of the tie-in comics to tell their own stories relating to the secrets revealed from The Watcher’s eye.  I’m enjoying the side stories with the “Mystery Boss”‘s collection of heroes, and we get our first OMG moment of the series.  It has the potential to be a game-changer….IF it sticks.  I have my doubts.

This is one crossover event where I am looking forward to reading the ancillary comics.
