  • Just to back up my point (Mixed Marvel Arts), both Bucky and Dick are great characters, but Dick is better because we saw him grow up. When Brubaker brought back Buck, he was already the Winter Soldier. He went from that innocent sidekick to being retconned into a darker character who meet in adulthood.

We saw Dick Grayson as a kid in the Robin tights, we saw his falling through with Bruce, we saw him become the leader of practically every team in the DC Universe as Nightwing, we saw him get his own city and we saw him through the loss of it, we saw him gain back the family he lost and lose members of his second family too, and through all of this we saw him become the opposite of Bruce Wayne, even as Batman where he was always a strong willed but openly compassionate person.

And don’t even get me started on Dick/Damian’s relationship.

They both wore their mentor’s costume, but Bucky always wanted to be more like Steve while Dick never wanted to be Bruce. Both are characters of the change, but Bucky’s change is a lot less solid than Dick Grayson’s. That’s why Dick is better… Though Higgins has forgotten about Dick’s connection to the rest of the DCU and that really hurts the title. (Sorry for the length)
