Can You Smell What The Rock Is Scribbling??

On this week’s WWE RAW Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson returned to confront his Wrestlemania opponent John Cena.  Last week Cena cut a promo dissing Rock for saying he’d never leave the WWE, while taking every chance to run and do movies and never show up to WWE live events week after week.

Rock was his usual charismatic self in the ring.  He had the crowd eating out the palm of his hands.  Whatever phrase he uttered quickly became a trending topic on Twitter.  Rock even showed us the goosebumps on his arms, to really let us know what the WWE crowd and the WWE itself meant to him.  He grew up in a wrestling family, and it means the world to The Rock.

Rock really shouldn’t let the hate from Cena phase him.  Because if Cena could be half the movie star The Rock is, he would leave WWE in a heartbeat also.  And there’s nothing wrong with that.  If you can go from traveling on the road and getting your body beat up over 300 days out the year, to making easier and better money acting in movies, you do it.  No questions asked, no slander.

So after listening to The Rock, John Cena finally joined the festivities.  The biggest thing to take out of Cena’s rebuttal to Rock is Cena revealing how Rock had his lines scribbled on his wrist.

This INFURIATED The Rock.  You could see in his eyes and tell from his body language that he really wanted to slap the taste out of John Cena’s mouth.  Cena’s last dig was leaving the ring and telling Rock to “continue trending”.  Insinuating that Rock cares more about superficial things like trending on Twitter, rather than being a professional wrestler (which is ironic since WWE ditched “wrestling” for creating “WWE Superstars”).

Then I saw something I thought I’d never see…..The Rock flustered on the mic.  Rock is the King of the Promo.  But after Cena’s diss Rock was stuttering and repeating himself, until he finally got a signature catchphrase or two in, and ended the segment.  Cue music, turnbuckle posing, roll credits.

So Rock is really going to let an insult about writing on his wrist get to him?  Really?  Something about that doesn’t seem right to me.  I made a joke that Rock did a tremendous job of acting like he was pissed off, and some of my friends on Twitter quickly disagreed with me.  Whether or not I’m right or wrong, I do applaud WWE for building this feud up all based on promos and no physical interaction between Rock and Cena.

We’re on the Road to Wrestlemania people.  Along with Triple H vs Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match and Chris Jericho vs CM Punk for the WWE Title, we’ll have even more drama to absorb before April 1st.  I’m going to sit back and enjoy the ride.

  • Classick Material

I thought Cena was just ribbing The Rock when he mentioned the scribbled notes on his wrist, but alas the photo evidence indeed showed Dwayne was taking a page out of Sarah Palin’s book. Kayfabe or not, the intensity of their Mania match just increased tenfold. Great job by both to promote the match!

  • the Rock needs to smack Cena.  like now.

  • not that Cena doesn’t have some good points but I’m a Rock fanatic

    • I love Rock. I bought his new blu-ray last week and still need to watch it. Hopefully I’ll get to it this weekend. If only Rock would appear on each RAW leading up to Mania. I think he’s only scheduled for the RAW right before Mania here in GA. I should go to it. Eh
