Amazing Spider-Man: “Ends of the Earth” Kicks Off in March

Over Spider-Man’s rich history, he’s had a wide array of villains fill up his rogues gallery.  Some of his most famous adversaries even joined forces to form a villainous team called the Sinister Six (Doctor Octopus, Chameleon, Electro, Mysterio, Rhino, and Sandman).

In March, Amazing Spider-Man #682 will focus on this team, and more specifically, Doctor Octopus, in the six-part story Ends of the Earth.  Back in Amazing Spider-Man #600, Doctor Octopus learned that he is dying, and only has “weeks to live” in comic book time.  So like any evil super-villain, Doc Ock is going out with a bang.  Doc Ock isn’t thinking small with just Spider-Man.  He’s going for a global takeover.

Spider-Man has been on a roll in his series of books over the last few years.  Ever since his marriage to Mary Jane was erased thanks to the One More Day story, Spider-Man books have stayed near the top of Marvel’s most popular titles.  Fans were outraged over the marriage being removed, but facts are facts….fans are still buying what Marvel is selling when it comes to Spider-Man.  It also helps to have great writers to usher in the Brand New Day, Big Time, and Spider-Island stories like Dan Slott, Marc Guggenheim,Bob Gale, and Zeb Wells.

With the Sinister Six at Doc Ock’s disposal, it will be interesting to see what evil scheme he’s hatched.  For someone who’s dying, he literally has nothing to lose.  That makes Otto Octavius mighty dangerous.

Again, Ends of the Earth kicks off in Amazing Spider-Man #682 and will run six issues.  Exceptional artist Stefano Caselli will be on the first two and last two issues and doing all the covers.  The artist for the middle parts have not been announced.  The writer will be Dan Slott.
