Triple H Relieves Vince McMahon Of His WWE Duties

This has been a busy 48 hours for the WWE.  Sunday night was the Money In The Bank PPV, where CM Punk was crowned the new WWE Champion in his hometown of Chicago, IL by defeating John Cena.  The storyline of CM Punk’s WWE contract expiring after MITB, along with his shoot promos against the WWE, John Cena, and Vince McMahon created an anticipation for the event the WWE has not seen since the “Attitude” era.

Then on Monday Night RAW, the show started off with Vince McMahon announcing that since CM Punk was no longer under a WWE contract, he was holding a tournament to crown a new WWE champion.  The show ended, however, with his son-in-law Triple H returning to inform McMahon that the Board of Directors voted to relieve him of his duties.

I love how WWE seems to be creating new storylines off of one another.  All the talk leading into RAW was about CM Punk, John Cena and the WWE title.  Now after RAW is over, CM Punk is an afterthought and all the talk is about McMahon being fired from his own company.

This is also a good way to transition Vince out of the public eye, and let Triple H assume the on-screen role of authority figure.  Triple H gets to stay relevant by being on screen, but spares us from having to watch him struggle through matches and take TV time away from the young crop of wrestlers on the roster hungry for a chance to shine.

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again….WWE always seems to have a firm game-plan going into SummerSlam and Wrestlemania.  This year seems to be no different.  All this seems to be building to something at SummerSlam.  The only question is what, and will The Rock be involved somehow, since SummerSlam will be taking place in Los Angeles, CA.

What do you think WWE has in store for CM Punk, John Cena, Vince McMahon, Triple H, and the WWE title? Are you happy with their choices so far?
