JAWZ OF LIFE: Lone Savior of the South

Jawz Of Life (aka J.O.L., aka Jawz )is one of the dopest emcees that the masses aren’t aware of yet. Hailing from Decatur (ATL). This southern-bred M.C. offers a surprisingly unique and fresh view that will help re-shape the sound of Hip Hop. Jawz is one of those type of guys you admire because it seems to be so natural for him to flow the way he does. Hell, he says “he’s born to do this”. Versatility, honesty and flexibility shows in his work that extends from joints with his crews, The 5ive, Passport and Dungeon East. Yes, he is part of the Dungeon Family 2nd Generation collective. Known to be a staple in Atlanta’s Apache Café, this emcee has been blessed with the opportunity to share the stage with the teacher himself, KRS-One.
The Summer of 2000 marks the first time I heard him. Famine was the joint. Head nodding was my reaction. Shortly after came the first album, “First Breath”, which was full of tracks and sketches like Spitball, My 1st Album and Alley Cat you would expect to hear on a major label release. Lately, he has been working alongside Collin Gibson ( Passport ), CoCo Jones ( Passport ), Big Rec ( The 5ive ) and a slew of others. Witty and terribly humble, you would never expect his wordplay to be as solid as it is. Its been said he is Jay-Z, Andre 3000 and Common balled into one. I agree.
His latest work can be found on various mixtapes where he has paid homage to some of his idols such as Outkast and Michael Jackson.
